Below is an interactive local star map (within 200 light years of our Sun). Use it to fly through our local stellar environment like AN INTERSTELLAR FLIGHT SIMULATOR.

Use your mouse + keys or you can use an (assignable) joystick.

Note:

• Only 0.25% of the stars within 200 light years are depicted on this map.

• within 200 light years there are about 120,000 stars (with about 100,000 having planets)

• about 1% - 3% of planets orbit within their star's habitable zone

• the Milky Way galaxy contains an estimated 400,000,000,000 stars, and is 100,000 light years across.
